# Timezones

Websites can read the browser timezone. The timezone of the Node.js or Python process running your automation is not visible to the website.

When you use a Browsers proxy, Browsers automatically aligns the browser timezone with the proxy's geolocation.

Without a proxy, or to force a specific timezone, choose an [IANA timezone identifier](https://nodatime.org/TimeZones) and override the existing page through CDP before navigating:

### Node.js

```typescript Node.js
const TIMEZONE = "America/Chicago";
const cdp = await context.newCDPSession(page);
await cdp.send("Emulation.setTimezoneOverride", {
  timezoneId: TIMEZONE,
});
```

### Python

```python Python
TIMEZONE = "America/Chicago"
cdp = context.new_cdp_session(page)
cdp.send(
    "Emulation.setTimezoneOverride",
    {"timezoneId": TIMEZONE},
)
```

> **Note**
>
> The override applies per page. Set it before navigation for each new page or
> tab.
